Bayside Pirates are an Australian men’s Twenty20 franchise cricket team that competes in an independent and privatised Twenty20 cricket competition, the Brisbane Premier League (BPL). Based in Wellington Point in the state of Queensland, the Pirates wear a navy blue and red uniform. The team plays in the Senior competition, while the Pirates also feature multiple junior age groups including U12s, U13s, U15s, U17s for males and U23s for females.
The Pirates were formed in 2021 to play in the inaugural Brisbane Premier League competition. The inaugural captain was former Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes player Simon Milenko. Notable players include Hobart Hurricanes spinner Paddy Dooley, former AFL player Claye Beams, 2023-24 Queensland Bulls player Aryan Jain, Chiba Sharks batsman Kendel Fleming, and PNG international players Norman Vanua, and Damien Ravu.
The Pirates failed to secure a win during a disappointing inaugural season that saw them finish last in the 2021 Brisbane Premier League. They turned things around in 2022 and reached the semi-finals for the first time, but were beaten by eventual champions Gold Coast Waveriders by 6 wickets. In 2023, the Pirates narrowly missed out on a semi-finals berth due to an inferior net run rate.
