Perth Scorchers are an Australian men’s Twenty20 franchise cricket team that competes in Australia’s domestic Twenty20 cricket competition, the Big Bash League (BBL). Based in Perth in the state of Western Australia, the Scorchers wear an orange and black uniform. The team plays most of their matches at their home ground, Perth Stadium (currently known as Optus Stadium for sponsorship reasons). However, the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA) Ground hosted the team’s home matches prior to 2018.
The Scorchers were formed in 2011 to play in the Big Bash League, succeeding the Western Warriors, who played in the now-defunct KFC Twenty20 Big Bash competition.
The Scorchers are the most successful team in BBL history, winning three championships and finishing runners-up twice. They were defeated in the final by the Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat in their first two seasons, but they then won the next two tournaments in a row, becoming the first team to achieve the feat in the league’s history. Their most recent championship came in 2016-17 against the Sydney Sixers.
